Black Bear Hunting

Sacramento Mountains

Sacramento MountainsNew for 2008.

Elite will take a limited number of black bear hunters for the 2008 season. Guided and unguided hunts will be offered. Archery and rifle hunts are both available. Only 2 guided hunters and 2 unguided hunters will be booked for 2008. And at first-year prices!

The hunts will be conducted in the Sacramento Mountains of central New Mexico. The Sacramento Mountains are formidable terrain. Hunters will need to be able to hike in the mountains to be successful on this hunt.

The majority of the hunting will be conducted in the White Mountain Wilderness Area. Elite has secured agreements with several ranches which will allow access to remote portions of the Wilderness Area.

Spot and stalk will be the primary hunting tactic, although waiting over springs can also be effective. Covering ground and glassing will be the routine most mornings. Hunting over water will be used more in the mid day and evenings.

The good bears in this area are in the 300 to 400 pound range. If you're in shape, diligence should produce an opportunity.

Accommodations and meals are included on guided and unguided hunts.  You will stay in a modern 4-bedroom lodge located adjacent to the Wilderness. Visit The Lodge. Field transportation will be provided for guided hunts. Airport service is available into Albuquerque, NM.
