OverviewWe are proud to introduce one of the finest pheasant hunting ranches in the world into the Elite family. We have teamed with the Dakota River Ranch in Columbia, SD to offer superb pheasant hunting.
The Dakota River Ranch is owned and operated by Dennis Jones. Dennis is a fifth generation owner of this magnificent property. He has been guiding bird hunters commercially on the Ranch since 1948.
These hunts are being guided by Elite's South Dakota huntsmen. Brad LaBounty and his local huntsmen will personally be guiding and conducting these hunts in South Dakota.
Hunting Area
The hunting area is located in northeastern South Dakota. Over 10,000 acres of family-owned, private property will be available to hunt. There is more land than time and hunters to hunt it all.
The land is mostly cropland with multiple food plot strips intertwined. Much of the hunting terrain consists of CRP and cattail river bottoms.
There is no shortage of cover which contributes to the unbelievable numbers of pheasants on the ranch.
The pheasant hunting on this ranch is intensely managed and is nothing short of the best. I repeat, the number of pheasants here is staggering! Nobody hunts here and is not impressed beyond description.
Tactics
A typical day in the field involves walking cover areas with blockers strategically placed at the end of the fields. Another tactic is to surround cattail sloughs with hunters. Then the guides and dogs move through the cattails and flush birds to the waiting hunters.
The dogs used for the pheasant hunts are all local, experienced Labs who literally make the hunt. Their abilities are second to none. You will be more than impressed with them.

Accommodations/Meals
Accommodations for the hunts will be in a magnificent 12,000 square feet lodging facility. The place is simply magnificent. The ambience and amenities are some of the finest anywhere.
Individual suites and rooms are available for hunters. Suites have multiple bedrooms, kitchens and a living area. The suites include flat-screen TV's, refrigerators, coffee makers and microwaves.
Rooms consist of multiple beds, ranging from 2 to 6, with adjoining bathrooms and showers. A large living area is adjacent to the rooms and has a flat-screen TV, beverage coolers, storage lockers, game tables, and plenty of comfortable seating.
The gathering areas include a recreation room
with a billiards table, a foosball table, shuffleboard, flat-screen TV, WiFi
internet access and a complimentary, fully-stocked bar. You'll enjoy
spectacular views of a private lake and wildlife from the wrap-around decks.
The recreation room retains the original woodwork from the century-old barn
that was part of the original home site.
An excellent cooking staff will keep you well fed and happy. Breakfast and dinner are served in a large dining area. Sack lunches will be provided for your days in the field. You will lack for nothing.
